Caring for your Garment

Each With Élan piece is made with care and intention. Due to its artisanal nature, gentle handling will help preserve its beauty over time.

Wear More, Wash Less
Natural fibres like cotton, linen, wool and silk are breathable and self-regulating, meaning they don’t require frequent washing. This helps maintain their texture and longevity.

After wearing, hang your piece in a breezy, shaded space to allow the fabric to air and naturally release any odours. Spot cleaning where needed can help preserve the garment’s structure and detail.

Steam to Refresh
Steaming softens creases while helping to freshen the fabric. Use a handheld steamer, or hang your piece in the bathroom while you shower - a simple way to revive it between wears.

A Note on Silk
Silk is a delicate natural fibre. To preserve its surface, we recommend avoiding friction with rough or abrasive textures.

Please follow the care instructions attached to your garment, as these are specific to each piece. The guidance below offers general recommendations.

If suitable for hand washing:

  • Wash gently in cold water
  • Use a delicate, natural, PH neutral detergent
  • Wash separately and inside out to protect any hand work
  • Do not soak
  • Dry in shade - UV rays can weaken fibres and fade natural dyes
  • Use a cool iron or steamer
  • Do not tumble dry, dry clean or bleach unless specified
  • For outerwear, lay flat to air dry in a shaded area

If dry cleaning is recommended, we encourage choosing an environmentally conscious provider that uses gentler, low impact processes where possible.

For hand embroidered pieces, take care to avoid friction or direct abrasion on the embroidery.

We also encourage mending early - addressing small areas of wear can extend the life of your piece and keep it in circulation for longer.
