Caring for your Garment

Each With Élan piece is handcrafted with love and designed to last. But due to its artisanal nature, it deserves mindful care.

Wear More, Wash Less
Natural fibres like cotton, linen and silk are breathable, self regulating and don’t need frequent washing. This helps preserve their beauty and longevity.

After wearing, simply hang your piece in a breezy, shaded spot - this allows the fabric to breathe and naturally release any odors.

Steam to Refresh
Steaming not only softens wrinkles, it also helps kill bacteria and freshen your garment. Use a handheld steamer, or hang your piece in the bathroom while you shower (yes, this really works!)

Please follow the care instructions attached to your garment. The guidance below offers general recommendations to help preserve its beauty and longevity.

If suitable for hand washing:

  • Wash gently in cold water
  • Use a delicate, natural detergent
  • Wash separately and inside out to protect any hand work
  • Do not soak
  • Dry in shade – UV rays can weaken fibres and fade natural dyes
  • Use a cool iron or steamer
  • Do not tumble dry, dry clean or bleach unless specified

If dry cleaning is recommended, we encourage choosing an environmentally conscious provider that uses gentler, low impact processes where possible.

For hand embroidered items, avoid direct contact with the embroidery.

Spot cleaning where possible can help maintain the garment’s structure and detail while reducing the need for frequent washing.

We also encourage mending early - addressing small areas of wear helps extend the life of your piece and keeps it in circulation for longer.
