Artijaan is a social enterprise supporting artisans in countries experiencing difficult political and economic circumstances - regions where traditional crafts remain rich, but access to global markets is often limited.
Many of these artisans are women working from home, skilled in techniques passed down through generations, yet isolated from opportunities that would allow their craft to sustain their livelihoods.
In a world oversaturated with mass produced, disposable goods, traditional artisans offer something rare: pieces made with intention, heritage and individuality. Their work carries a story, a sense of identity and a connection that resonates deeply with those seeking ethically sourced, environmentally responsible and meaningful alternatives.
Artijaan exists as a bridge between these two worlds.
They create pathways for artisans to preserve their cultural heritage while earning fair, stable income. And they invite consumers to connect with the stories behind each piece - supporting craft, culture and ethical production with real social impact.
Artijaan collaborates with over 40 Afghan artisans, 540 small and medium enterprises and 20 women’s networks across rural Afghanistan.

The Craft Behind the Collaboration
Shazia and Nasrin (pictured above) are the Afghan artisans behind our jewellery collaboration - two craftswomen based in Kabul who create each piece by hand from their home workshops.
With an eye for detail, they specialise in delicate hammered gold designs finished with Afghanistan’s native gemstones such as lapis lazuli, agate and tourmaline.
Every order supports their work and helps empower local artisans to preserve traditional craftsmanship.
